• Suncoast has a psychiatrist and psychiatric nurse practitioner who work with clients who desire psychotropic medication to help manage their mental health symptoms.

• The provider completes a psychiatric evaluation with the client at the initial psychiatric appointment. This evaluation includes input from the client as well as the psychiatric provider’s observations. From this evaluation, the psychiatric provider will determine if there is a need for prescribed medication. The provider will discuss recommended medications, efficacy, and possible side effects and prescribe medication, as indicated, with the client’s consent.

• Monitoring of medication by the psychiatric provider is a continuous assessment of the effectiveness of prescribed medication and is done during monthly medication management appointments.
