Comprehensive Behavioral Health Assessment (CBHA)
-
Suncoast Mental Health Center provides in-depth and detailed assessments for children ages 0-17 who have been removed from their parents by the Department of Children and Families. Each child’s emotional, social, medical, behavioral health and development is evaluated while identifying their strengths and needs.

A CBHA is a Medicaid-funded assessment. Per Florida Statute Chapter 39, a CBHA is referred for any child who is a victim of abuse, neglect, or abandonment and placed into shelter care. A CBHA integrates historical information, previous evaluations and testing, opinions, and direct observations to make recommendations for permanency planning and services in the child's best interest. This assessment also provides a diagnosis based on all collateral information, interviews, and the assessor’s direct observation and evaluation of the child.

Suncoast Mental Health Center has three assessors who provide CBHA’s in the following counties: St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River, and Okeechobee County.
